Motorcyclist Killed In Crash During Spring Flood Run

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An annual event that kicks off the unofficial start to the motorcycle riding season became the scene of a fatal accident this weekend.

On Saturday, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash while riding in the Annual Spring Flood Run.

It happened just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and State Highway 42 near Kellogg, Minnesota.

Thousands of people were out for the event, which goes along the Mississippi and St. Croix valleys between the Twin Cities and Winona.

The State Patrol says 62-year-old Randall Beers of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and a passenger were headed south on Highway 61 when they crashed into a car waiting to make a left-hand turn from Highway 42.

Beers died at the scene.

The passenger, a 37-year-old woman from Bangor, Wisconsin, was hurt but will be OK.

No one in the other car was hurt.
