Mother's Day Extra Special For Woodbury Mom Of 15

WOODBURY, Minn. (WCCO) -- One local mother is having an extra special Mother's Day. That's because she has a few more kids than most families helping her celebrate.

Amy Ames from Woodbury has 15 kids. Four of them are her own birth kids, while the other 11 are adopted. Amy and her husband began fostering at first, but decided to go with the more permanent route of adoption 16 years ago.

She said it became their mission to make sure siblings got adopted together. Mother's Day isn't all about her though. She said the group also celebrated by sending cards to some of the kids' birth moms.

"Mother's Day is so special. It's really the core of everything because it's really just to take a minute and think about where they would be without being here and who I would be without them, who they would be without us. It's a great, great day," Ames said.

Amy's oldest child is 26 years old while the youngest is 5. They have four sets of sibling groups in the family.
