New Details In Search For Missing Wis. Woman

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It started as a girls night out for a young Wisconsin mother, but authorities can't figure out how it ended.

Marya Christiansen, 23, was last seen in Red Wing early Saturday morning. She disappeared after driving off toward her home across the Mississippi River in Hager, Wisconsin.

"None of us have located anything, so her place right now is unknown," said Pierce County, Wisconsin Sheriff Nancy Hove. "She could be anywhere."

The sheriff says that before Christiansen went missing, she enjoyed a few margaritas with friends. She then left to go see boyfriend, the father of her two boys.

But she didn't turn up at home.

The early search for Christiansen has proved difficult, the sheriff said, because she could have gone anywhere.

"There's no search area, per say," the sheriff added.

Hove says that officers have searched the area around Red Wing and Hager by boat and air.

Authorities say there's been no contact between Christiansen and her family since the time she disappeared.

Christiansen's father, Steve Christiansen, said everyone in the family is fraught over the young woman's disappearance.

"This is something that never ever crossed my mind," Steve Christiansen said. "That my daughter would be missing and I need to find out where she is."

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are searching for the van Christiansen was driving: a 2006 Dodge Caravan with the Wisconsin license plate 443 VPF.

Authorities said on Monday that the van has a large amount of rust below both sliding doors, large dents in the front driver's side fender and rear passenger taillight area, and a pink magnetic ribbon over the rear overhead door.

Christiansen herself is described as standing 5-feet, 2-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and having blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a red shirt, leggings and black suede boots.

Authorities in Pierce County say Christiansen's boyfriend reported her missing. He has been interviewed by deputies.

Anyone who's seen Christiansen or knows of her whereabouts is asked to call 715-273-5051.
