MnDOT: WB I-394 To Reopen Friday In Downtown Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The mainlines of westbound Interstate 394 will reopen Friday between downtown Minneapolis and Golden Valley -- helping to ease traffic from Minneapolis' Aquatennial events and the Minnesota Twins' series against the New York Yankees.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the westbound mainline and HOV/Reversible lanes will open at 5 a.m. on I-394 between I-94 and Highway 100.
Overnight closures of westbound I-394 lanes between I-94 and Hwy 100 will continue for weeks for pavement grinding in order to smooth out the lanes and make them quieter.
Crews will close eastbound mainline lanes of I-394 between Golden Valley and downtown Minneapolis starting Friday, July 31. Traffic will shift to the two HOV/Reversible lanes for about two weeks.
Ramps to eastbound I-394 to Penn Avenue and its reverse, as well as northbound Hwy 100 to eastbound I-394 will be closed during this period. Southbound Hwy 100 to eastbound I-394 will use the HOV ramp.
Lyndale Avenue over Dunwoody Boulevard and Hennepin Avenue will stay closed until fall. Drivers can access westbound I-394 via Dunwoody Boulevard, and can stay on Lyndale via Hennepin and Linden avenues and 11th Street.
