MN Lawmakers Launch Campaign To End Human Trafficking

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A new campaign announced at the State Fair Thursday aims to bring more attention to victims of human trafficking.

Congressman Erik Paulsen and county attorneys from Washington and Ramsey counties were all on hand for the event.

As a collaboration, Polaris and Clear Channel Outdoor are unveiling a billboard campaign to reach trafficking victims who may not know about the resources out there to help them.

Human Trafficking is a problem in all 50 states and is getting increasingly worse here in Minnesota.

"We must do all that we can to eliminate the scourge of human trafficking – too many young girls and boys, and their families are affected by this heinous practice," Paulsen said.

Though she could not attend the fair event Thursday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar is also involved in the efforts.

"This campaign, which educates and empowers people to join the fight against trafficking, has the power to help prevent children from being victimized and help those who have fallen victim to this heinous crime get the support they need to get their lives back on track," she said.

You will find the 53 digital billboards all across the state.
