MN Couple Forms Relationship, Business From A Love Of Fitness
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For Andrea and Mike Jones, their love started long ago.
The couple, who bounced around while Mike was a marine, settled in Minnesota following his graduation from business school at Georgetown.
The couple now spends their time working out together.
"This past fall we both decided to marathon. So we did a lot of training together," Mike said.
"I get to follow a passion," Andrea Jones said. "Which is something I've had for most of my life, a passion for fitness. And we both have the passion to really help people."
Their love of fitness has now turned into a full-time job.
"We opened the first CrossFit gym in St. Paul in 2009. Then first CrossFit gym in Minneapolis a year after," said Mike.
Mike originally moved to Minnesota for a job at 3M, but now is the businessman behind the four gyms.
And while he may be the businessman behind their four gyms across the metro, Andrea brings the personality to their over 600 members.
"I'm always on the go," Andrea said. "Mike is the one that will help to balance me out and bring me down a little bit or focus my energies."
The next chapter for this happy couple, a new gym called Alchemy365.
As they tackle this newest fitness challenge, they have a little advice for all of us who goes into business with their partner.
"If you're able to communicate openly and give each other space, it can be really kind of enhanced experience," Mike said.
"Adding businesses and kids to the mix has made it a fun challenge," Andrea said.
