Sheriff: Body Of Missing Person Discovered In Northern MN River

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating after the body of a missing man was found in a northern Minnesota river.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded early Saturday afternoon to a report of badly decomposed human remains found in the Little Fork River, approximately a half-mile west of Cook, Minnesota.

Upon arrival, deputies and personnel from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the remains were that of a human.

A subsequent autopsy identified the body as Jeremy Allen Morrell, who was reported missing and was last seen walking on foot in Cook on March 29, 2016.

The man's cause of death is pending the results of autopsy exam.
