Missing 4-Year-Old Maplewood Boy Found Safe, Police Investigating

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A missing 4-year-old boy from Maplewood has been found safe.

According to the Maplewood police, Daniel Sheppard Jr. was located early Monday morning and was returned to his mother by his father, Daniel Sheppard Sr.

Sheppard Jr.'s mother reported the boy missing Saturday afternoon. She told police Sheppard Sr., who does not have legal custody or visitation rights, picked up the boy and was supposed to bring him to a friend's house but he never showed up.

Police said Sheppard Sr. returned Sheppard Jr. after he learned that officers were looking for him.

Sheppard Sr. is currently not in custody. However, Maplewood police are investigating him for the crime of depriving another of custodial or parental rights.
