Bemidji Police Continue Search For Missing 5-Year-Old
Update: Brittany Balcer was found alive Thursday morning, and police say a suspect is in custody.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Bemidji continue to seek help locating a 5-year-old girl who went missing early Wednesday morning.
Police said Brittany Balcer disappeared shortly after a deadly house fire occurred at the home of a friend she was visiting on Irvine Avenue in Bemidji.
Around 3:30 a.m. firefighters put out the fire at the home. While investigating, they found the body of an adult inside. They did not find any sign of Brittany.
Crews continue to investigate what started the fire.
Police said Brittany was last seen wearing a black shirt, pink skirt with stars and a pink bandage on her arm covering poison ivy.
Police are expected to release more information about the investigation and search at 1 p.m. Thursday.
