Minnesota Weather: Heavy, Wet Snow Falls Across Minnesota, Western Wisconsin
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Winter made quite a comeback Tuesday, dropping heavy, wet snow across Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.

WCCO meteorologist Chris Shaffer says this storm moved in a diagonal across the state, with the Brainerd Lakes area getting 6 to 8 inches and counting. He says significant snow totals are expected to rack up in the Arrowhead and northern Wisconsin by Wednesday morning.
By 10 p.m., Breezy Point had 8 inches; Richfield saw 5 inches; Minneapolis was at 4.8 inches; Mankato at 4 inches; and Alexandria registered 2.6 inches.
The storm started to thin out in the Twin Cities in the 10 p.m. hour, but the system won't entirely exit Minnesota until early Wednesday morning.

Road conditions will continue to deteriorate into the night, but they are expected to be fine by Wednesday morning across the state, due to the Minnesota Department of Transportation's fleet of plows.
Sunshine will return Wednesday, which will help melt the snow on roads, but it will stick around on yards for a while with cooler conditions the rest of the week. Highs will be in the low-to-high 30s, and lows will be consistently below freezing.
More snow is possible Thursday as a cold front passes, but amounts will be much lighter, falling between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch. Light snow and rain is also expected for Saturday.
