NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. report on May 31, 2024

MINNEAPOLIS — Showers return to the Twin Cities on Friday afternoon and evening, bringing some locally heavy rain and some thunder.

It will be dry all day in northern Minnesota, and this weekend is looking much drier than it had earlier this week.

Saturday will be the best day of the weekend, with just a handful of isolated thundershowers possible, mainly up north. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s to low-80s.

Sunday could feature some morning thundershowers, and there will be strong or severe thunderstorms redeveloping during the evening, especially in western Minnesota. Otherwise, it will be dry with some sun and a gusty wind.

More off-and-on showers and thundershowers are possible on Sunday night through at least Tuesday.

Questions remain about whether the region will dry out for the second half of the week or if conditions will stay unsettled.
