Heat, humidity begin to build Thursday in the Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS — We are starting to crank up the heat in the Twin Cities, with both Thursday and Friday featuring temperatures in the mid-to-high 80s.
There will be plenty of sunshine on both days as the humidity steadily increases.
A few weak shortwaves of upper-level energy pass to our north this weekend, bringing back isolated storm chances, but the heat and humidity remain.
The Twin Cities should stay dry overnight into Friday, which will feel similar to Thursday but a little warmer.
We warm even more to near 90 between Saturday and Monday with heat indices into the mid-to-upper 90s. This would be our first 90-degree day of the year.
There's a chance for storms Saturday morning with some possibly damaging winds. The rest of the day will be hot and humid with another round of storms possible later in the night.
There is a bit of uncertainty regarding storm chances early next week, but we will likely cool back down starting Tuesday with highs near 80.
