Air quality alert issued for northern Minnesota, scattered showers in the evening
MINNEAPOLIS — Scattered showers and some rumbles of thunder are possible on Friday night, as an air quality alert is issued for northern Minnesota.
The alert will be in effect from Friday at 6 p.m. through Monday at noon for northern Minnesota due to wildfire smoke from Canada. The smoke could eventually make its way down to the Twin Cities, but will not be impactful enough to cause an alert for the area, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency officials say.
Expect more clouds and chances for isolated showers early on Saturday, especially in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. Nothing severe is expected.
Sunday is the pick of the weekend under a mostly sunny sky, besides some possible morning fog, and temps back into the low 80s.
That sunny, mild setup will carry over into Monday and Tuesday, and perhaps longer with growing uncertainty about our next rain chance mid-week even coming to fruition.
