Minnesota Weather: Easter Weekend Ends With #Top10WxDay; Monday Brings More Heat, Possible Storms
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Easter weekend is closing out with some fabulous weather.
After a slightly cloudy start, Minnesotans got to experience a #Top10WxDay, complete with sunshine Sunday morning, followed by a mix of sun and clouds through the rest of the day.
The Twin Cities is expected to hit near 75 in the late afternoon. Up north will be a bit cooler, with the mid-60s expected in some areas and the North Shore seeing highs in the low 50s.
As nice as Sunday will be, Monday will be even warmer. It'll be our first shot at 80 degrees since Oct. 9, and a shot at breaking records in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud.
Storms are in the forecast for Monday night, which will bring a cooldown back to the 50s. WCCO Meteorologist Lisa Meadows says the first system will bring some isolated storms Monday afternoon to southeastern and northwestern Minnesota, plus western Wisconsin. The second system will move through northwestern and southeastern Minnesota during the evening -- posing a marginal risk of hail and damaging winds between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
A more widespread rain event is forecasted between Tuesday night and Thursday morning. Wednesday will likely see the heaviest rain, with 1 to 2 inches possible in south central Minnesota. There will be breaks in the rain during this multi-day system.
Temperatures will drop slightly for the rest of the week, and will likely climb back to the 60s by next weekend.
