Minnesota Supreme Court Mum On Handgun Policies At Vikings Games
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's highest court won't step into a dispute over handgun policies for off-duty police officers at Minnesota Vikings football games.
The state Supreme Court has issued an order saying it won't review an appellate court ruling that went in the favor of the National Football League and the University of Minnesota. The entities sought to enforce a league gun ban in stadiums for all but working officers and security personnel.
The Vikings are playing at TCF Bank Stadium until their new home opens next season.
The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association contends that Minnesota's Personal Protection Act limited the power of private establishments to prohibit handguns for off-duty officers.
In August, the Court of Appeals sent the case back to a district court for further direction.
