Minnesota Prep School Suit Moved To Federal Court
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal courts will hear a new lawsuit alleging that a southern Minnesota boarding school knew a former teacher was sexually abusing male students but took no action.
Attorney Jeff Anderson filed the lawsuit in state court earlier this month on behalf of a former student against Shattuck-St. Mary's school in Faribault.
Anderson says the school asked to move the suit to federal court, and he has no objection.
It's the third lawsuit against Shattuck-St. Mary's over former teacher Lynn Seibel's misconduct. Seibel was sentenced last October to more than four years in prison for sexually abusing six male students more than a decade ago.
Anderson says the earlier two suits also are in federal court.
Shattuck-St. Mary's has said the suggestion that the school knew of Seibel's misconduct and did nothing is "false and unfounded."
