Minnesota Man Shot By Law Officers After North Dakota Chase
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A 43-year-old Minnesota man is hospitalized in North Dakota after being shot by law officers in Jamestown.
Authorities say the man fled from an officer who responded to a report of a drunk person at a convenience store shortly after midnight Monday, and rammed two law enforcement vehicles during the ensuing chase.
The police department says officers with the department and the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office eventually shot the man to protect an officer who had approached the man's vehicle and was in danger of being run over.
Authorities did not immediately identify the man from Tracy, Minnesota, or give details on his condition.
A Jamestown officer and a sheriff's deputy have been put on leave while the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the incident. That's standard procedure.
