Minnesota Guard Jon Christenson Out With Knee Injury

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota left guard Jon Christenson could miss about a month after he had arthroscopic right knee surgery to fix an injury suffered last week at Colorado State.

Christenson had the procedure on Tuesday, and coach Jerry Kill said the Gophers were hoping to get the fifth-year senior back in the lineup in three or four weeks.

Christenson was the starting center as a sophomore in the 2013 season, when he broke two bones in his lower left leg and needed a steel rod inserted for support. He worked his way into a backup role last year and cracked the lineup again in the Citrus Bowl against Missouri.

The Gophers host Kent State on Saturday. Starting safety Damarius Travis also will miss his second straight game because of a hamstring injury.
