Gophers' McManus Named Big Ten Third Star

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – University of Minnesota freshman Brandon McManus was named the Big Ten's Third Star of the Week after the Gophers hockey team split with Penn State over the weekend.

McManus recorded his first career hat-trick Sunday as the Gophers beat the Nittany Lions 6-3 at 3M at Mariucci Arena. All three goals came in the third period of the win.

Minnesota (2-2, 1-1) travels to North Dakota this weekend for a non-conference series.
