Minnehaha Park Hosts Walk For Multiple Sclerosis
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Thousands of people started their Sunday with a long walk, a walk that raised money for a great cause.
Walk MS: Twin Cities brought folks together at Minnehaha Park on Sunday morning. It raised nearly $900,000 for people living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Walkers chose between a 1.5 or 6.5-mile scenic route along the river with snacks and a finish-line celebration. MS is a disease that affects the central nervous system and can cause anything from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.
Many people at Sunday's walk have been personally touched by the disease, and are hoping for a cure.
"My cousin suffers every day, you know. She's always at the doctor and my cousin Joel is in a wheelchair," Terri Anderson of River Falls, Wis., said. "You know, it's a debilitating disease that really needs more help to put it into remission longer."
This walk at Minnehaha Park was just one of 14 different Walk MS events being held across the state this weekend.
