1 dead, 2 hurt in separate late night Minneapolis shootings
MINNEAPOLIS — A man is dead and two others are hurt in separate shootings late Wednesday night in Minneapolis.
Police say two females were first hurt by gunfire at about 10:30 p.m. south of downtown near 19th Street East and First Avenue South in the Stevens Square neighborhood.
Both victims later showed up separately at a local hospital and are expected to survive. A man in his 20s was shot dead at the same location on Tuesday.
The second shooting happened about an hour and 20 minutes later, and less than a mile away, near East 15th Street and Portland Avenue in the Elliot Park neighborhood.
Police say officers found a man lying on a sidewalk, who soon died from his injuries. He is the fifth homicide victim in the city since Friday.
"An argument" preceded the shooting, according to police, and the suspect likely fled the area on foot.
"We're going to do everything we can to pinpoint those individuals who are in that community, in that neighborhood, causing the harm," Sgt. Garrett Parten said. "We're concerned for the neighbors, the people that live there, and we'll do everything we can to bring people to justice."
The man was identified on Friday by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner as 46-year-old Mario Sparkman.
No arrests have been made in either shooting.
