Minneapolis Public Housing Authority Head Tapped For NYC Job

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The head of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority is a front-runner to lead the New York City housing authority, as confirmed by WCCO's Esme Murphy.
The Minneapolis mayor's office told Murphy that Gregory Russ is the top choice to run the embattled agency in New York.
The federal government ordered New York to pick a new chairman of the housing authority.
Russ oversees fewer than 11,000 residents in Minneapolis.
New York City is the nation's largest housing authority with more than 400,000 residents.
Mayor Jacob Frey will pick a replacement for Russ. The City Council then needs to approve the appointment.
