Minneapolis Family Rescued After Getting Stranded While Canoeing On Lake Superior
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities family is safe after their canoe capsized on choppy Lake Superior. Yonyalu and Tabithah Polinske and their two children swam to shore near Munising, Michigan, Tuesday night.
A tour boat operator spotted the Minneapolis family stranded along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The Polinske family told the sheriff their canoe took on too much water.
Mom, dad, son and daughter all managed to swim about 150 yards to a beach. Rescuers saved them and took them to the hospital.
Authorities urged everyone to use extreme caution on the lake.
