Minneapolis, St. Paul Declare Snow Emergencies Following Winter Storm
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis and St. Paul both declared snow emergencies on Tuesday morning following a winter storm that blanketed the metro with a few inches of fresh snow.
In Minneapolis, emergency parking rules will go into effect Tuesday at 9 p.m., requiring snow emergency routes to be clear of cars overnight.
Then on Wednesday morning, drivers won't be able to park on the even sides of streets, other than already clear snow emergency routes.
On Thursday morning, cars won't be able to park on the odd sides of streets as plows finish clearing the roadways.
In St. Paul, the night plow routes will be plowed overnight Tuesday. Then starting on Wednesday morning, the day plow routes will be cleared of snow.
In both cities, those who don't follow the parking rules risk getting towed.
Snow emergencies were also declared in cities such as Bloomington, Mankato and Red Wing. Monday's storm brought snow to much of southern Minnesota, dumping up to 9 inches of snow in some areas.
