Minneapolis Being Considered As NCAA Hoops Host

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The nets could be cut down in Minnesota again. Minneapolis has made the list of finalists for the next round of Final Four bids.

The NCAA announced Monday eight cities it's considering as hosts for the semifinals and championship of the men's basketball tournaments from 2017-2020. Also on the list: Atlanta, Indianapolis, New Orleans, the Dallas area, the Phoenix area, San Antonio and St. Louis.

Minneapolis hosted the 1992 and 2001 Final Four at the Metrodome, which is being torn down. The new Minnesota Vikings stadium, which is also a candidate to host the 2018 Super Bowl, is scheduled to open in 2016.

Final presentations from each location will be made to the NCAA in November. Winning bids will be announced later that month.
