Minn. Rep. Gets Nat'l Attention After Controversial NBA Tweet
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota lawmaker is getting national attention for a tweet posted on his Twitter page Sunday – and some are calling it racist.

Since it was tweeted, Rep. Pat Garofalo's comment has been retweeted or shared hundreds of times. The websites Gawker, Deadspin and Jezebel have also brought attention to the tweet.
Garofalo said he had previous NBA player arrests in mind when he wrote the tweet. He said he intended it to be a criticism of professional athletes in all sports -- not just the NBA.
He went on saying some pro athletes behave as if they are above the law and referenced what he said was the NBA's marijuana policy that suspends players after a third offense.
Garofalo is a fifth-term Republican from Farmington.
