Mike's Mix: The Farm Girl Beermosa
Every week on Saturday, Mike Augustyniak goes in search of a new cocktail idea from a local mixologist. This week, he's heading to No Neck Tony's to try a brunch cocktail created with one of Minnesota's most well-known beers.
The Farm Girl Beermosa
Ingredients
10 oz Lift Bridge Brewery Farm Girl Saison
4 oz orange juice
1 oz mango puree
1 oz pomegranate juice
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a pilsner glass. Garnish with a slice of pomelo and a cherry.
Taste Test
No Neck Tony's and Lift Bridge Brewery are two Stillwater favorites that have teamed up to put a new brunch drink on the menu. The Farm Girl Saison is a light beer, which Lift Bridge co-owner Brad Glynn describes as light, sweet, and at the same time containing hints of spice mixed with clove and banana. Like a mimosa, a "beermosa" combines citrus and bubbly to brighten up brunch, but sparkling wine is replaced by beer. The overall flavor is similar, but smoother and (to my taste) a little less acidic than the traditional version.
No Neck Tony's is just up Myrtle from Main Street in downtown Stillwater. Opened in 2011 by 10-year Air Force veteran Tony Misenor, and his wife Jessica, the bar features live music on Wednesday nights, Heggies Pizza, ski-ball, darts, pool, and a neighborhood feel.
