Mike Grant Wins Don Shula National Coach Of The Year Award

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Mike Grant is one of the most successful high school football coaches in the history of Minnesota. He now has one more big award to add to his list.

Grant was named the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year on Friday. He's in New York to accept the award and will be in attendance Sunday as a guest of the NFL for the Super Bowl, where the Broncos take on the Seahawks.

Grant will receive $25,000, of which $15,000 will go to the football program at Eden Prairie. The Eagles are coming off their second consecutive Class 6A state championship and ninth overall under Grant's leadership. He's been coaching for 35 years and is the son of former Vikings legendary coach Bud Grant.

He was one of three finalists for the award, which recognizes active or retired high school football coaches nominated for their character and integrity, inspirational leadership, commitment to the community and on-field success.
