Metro Transit Unveils First 'Bus Rapid Transit' To Be Used On A Line
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Metro Transit has unveiled the first bus in its new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, which will be used on it's new A Line in 2016.
According to Metro Transit, the A Line is a new kind of bus service for the metro's busy streets.
Metro Transit says the BRT is a package of transit enhancements with the goal of leading to a faster trip and improved experience. Essentially, it's a train-like service where you pay for tickets in advance and disembark via enhanced stations.
"The A Line will connect the Twin Cities' two METRO light-rail lines with the busy Snelling Avenue commercial corridor and several popular destinations, including Hamline University, Macalester College, Highland Village, Rosedale Center, HarMar Mall, Minnehaha Park and the Midway area," Metro Transit said.
