Metro Transit Blue Line Derails Near Airport, MOA

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A piece of metal on the light rail tracks apparently caused a derailment of the Blue Line Saturday afternoon in Bloomington.

A Metro Transit Blue Line light rail train derailed around 1 p.m.

The middle car of a three-car train came off the tracks near 30th Avenue between the 28th Avenue Station and Bloomington Central Station.

About 60 people were on board, but no one was hurt.

The Blue Line was shut down between The Terminal 2 Station at the airport and the Mall of America.

The train remains shut down, but buses have been set up to replace the train. Boarding information can be found online.

Metro Transit officials are currently working to remove the train from the tracks.

Rail service in that area isn't expected to resume until Sunday, after they inspect the tracks and make repairs.
