Medtronic, Vikings Announce 10-Year Partnership For Stadium Plaza
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Medtronic and the Minnesota Vikings announced Monday a 10-year partnership that includes a plaza for football fans near U.S. Bank Stadium.
Officials said Medtronic Plaza will be a three-acre gateway between downtown Minneapolis and the new home of the Vikings. The plaza will be next to the five pivoting glass doors on the west side of U.S. Bank Stadium.
Officials said it will be a place for football fans to gather before and after Vikings games and will host concerts as well as events throughout the year. The plaza will also be used to support local community initiatives and events that promote health and wellness in the Twin Cities.
Construction at U.S. Bank Stadium is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2016 in time for the Vikings to move into their new home for the 2016 season.
