Mankato Assault Victim Slowly Improving, Still On Life Support
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The former Minnesota State University, Mankato football player allegedly assaulted by two men is slowly showing signs of improvement but remains on life support, according to his CaringBridge page.
Isaac Kolstad remains sedated and in critical condition with severe head injuries. According to his CaringBridge page, Kolstad had a scan taken of his brain Monday, which showed a slight improvement with a reduction in his brain swelling. But his neurological status hasn't changed and he is still on life support.
"Keep the prayers, love and positive thoughts coming! Continue to keep Isaac and our family in your thoughts. It is amazing to know Isaac is being thought of all over the nation, it is truly humbling," his family said on his CaringBridge page.
Two men, including former Gophers football quarterback Philip Nelson, have each been charged with two felony counts of assault in connection with the incident shortly after the bars closed in downtown Mankato earlier this month.
Fastenal, where Kolstad worked, will hold a silent auction and benefit at 7 p.m. Thursday.
