Missing person alert canceled after 86-year-old Askov man found dead
UPDATE (Feb. 20, 2024) — Gerald Knapp was found dead following a drone search in Nemadji State Forest, on the morning of Feb. 20. The following story has been amended to include that information.
ASKOV, Minn. — The search for an 86-year-old eastern Minnesota man with dementia has been called off after his body was found on Tuesday morning.
Gerald Knapp was last seen around 10 a.m. on Jan. 28 leaving Askov in a red Ford Escape, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. His vehicle was found in the northeastern part of Pine County.
The Pine County Sheriff's Office thanked those who helped search for him.
