Man Wins Grandma's Marathon In Record Time
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Thousands of runners were on hand Saturday for the annual Grandma's Marathon race, one of the most popular in Minnesota ever year.
A few of WCCO-TV's own were amongst the competitors as meteorologist Matt Brickman, reporter Rachel Slavik and photojournalist Carly Danek were among the participants. The 26.2-mile race started in Two Harbors and finished in Duluth.
Dominic Ondoro from Kenya won the race in the men's marathon, finishing in just more than 2 hours, 9 minutes. He broke Dick Beardsley's 33-year-old record by 30 seconds and got a hug from Beardsley after he crossed the finish line.
Pasca Myers from Kenya won the women's race, finishing in just more than 2 hours, 33 minutes.
Brickman, Slavik and Danek all finished the race with their personal-best times.
