5 Arrested Following Overnight Shooting In Downtown Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Five people have been arrested following an overnight shooting in downtown Minneapolis.

Police spokesperson John Elder says the shooting happened about an hour after bar close on North 3rd Street, between 1st and 2nd avenues. It appears two groups of people were shooting at each other, although police haven't said if the shooting was gang related.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was not cooperative and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

Police say they found a handgun beneath a car near where the victim was found.

After interviewing several people in the area, police say they developed descriptions of suspect cars.

One of the cars was found downtown. Police say one person in the car was wearing an empty holster and the three people inside were taken into custody.

The second car was found on Interstate 94 with a shot-out window.

Police stopped the vehicle, and the occupants admitted they were coming from downtown. Officers found a gun in that car and arrested the two people inside.

The names of those arrested have not been released.

112 Eatery, a restaurant near the shooting scene, had a bullet go through a window. No one was inside the restaurant at the time.
