Man Gets 2 Life Terms For Fargo Double Homicide

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man convicted in the November stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend and another man in Fargo has been sentenced to two life terms without parole.

David Stevens was sentenced Friday afternoon. He pleaded guilty in January to killing 23-year-old Samantha Wickenheiser, of Fargo, and 30-year-old Ward Berg, of Moorhead, Minnesota, in Wickenheiser's north Fargo apartment.

Stevens' wife told police the pair drove from Brookings, South Dakota, to Fargo the night of the killings because Stevens wanted to pick up clothing from the apartment. Investigators say David Stevens brought two knives with him.

Prosecutors said that Stevens deserved the maximum penalty to "bring some measure of justice" in the case.
