Man Found Dead In South Minneapolis ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are investigating after a man was found dead Saturday night in south Minneapolis.

According to authorities, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired on the 2700 block of Longfellow Avenue South, shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, they found a man in the street, laying against a snow bank with apparent gunshot wounds. He was already dead.

"We did some canvassing and there were some leads that came out of that, and we are following up," said Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder.

Early Sunday evening, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 23-year-old Anthony Lee Fairbanks of Minneapolis. He died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death has been ruled homicide.
