Security guard, 23, shot dead inside Uptown Minneapolis bar
MINNEAPOLIS -- A security guard was fatally shot inside a Uptown Minneapolis business late Sunday night.
The family of the victim, who they identified as 23-year-old Gabriel "Dino" Mendoza, says he was working security at Fire House Uptown off of Lagoon and Fremont avenues when he was shot while trying to protect others.
Police said it happened at about 11:45 p.m. Officers found Mendoza in the back of the business with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He died before medics arrived.
The shooting is under investigation. There have been no arrests as of Monday evening.
This is the 71st homicide in Minneapolis this year.
