Boy, 15, Allegedly Leads Police On High-Speed Chase In Kandiyohi Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 15-year-old boy allegedly led police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning in Kandiyohi County, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.

According to officials, around 2:45 a.m. a deputy was completing a traffic stop at Highway 71 and Highway 9 when a 1994 Ford Explorer passed them going southbound on Hwy 71 at over 80 mph.

The deputy then attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused.

Police said the deputy then followed the driver as he sped south on Highway 71, going close to 95 mph.

The pursuit ended at the Highway 71/23 bypass near the Willmar Avenue exit.

According to the sheriff's office, the driver was arrested.

He is being held on charges of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and not having a Minnesota driver's license.

Police said there was also a 16-year-old girl runaway from Albany, Minn., in the car.

There were no injuries in connection with the pursuit.
