Lynx Waive Asia Taylor, Former Gopher Shae Kelley

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Lynx announced its final roster cuts Tuesday as the team prepares for its 2015 season opener Friday night.

The Lynx waived forwards Asia Taylor and former University of Minnesota star Shae Kelley, which sets the team's opening night roster at 12 players. The Lynx had until 4 p.m. Thursday to finalize its roster.

Kelley, a 6-1 forward who played for the Gophers, was an All-Big Ten First Team selection who led Minnesota with 56 steals last season and was second on the team in scoring. She was sixth in the Big Ten in scoring, offensive rebounds and double-doubles, seventh in rebounds and defensive rebounds.

Taylor was taken by the Lynx with the No. 36 pick in the 24 WNBA Draft. She finished her rookie season averaging 2.7 points per game and shot 52.5 percent from the floor while averaging nearly eight minutes per game in 22 contests.

The Lynx open the 2015 regular season hosting the Tulsa Shock at 7 p.m. Friday at Target Center.
