Lynx Looking For Team Effort To Bounce Back In Game 2
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It is the game that can turn the series in either direction for either team. The Minnesota Lynx host the Indiana Fever in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals Tuesday night at Target Center.
So how do you bounce back from a disappointing game one? Mike Max asked that question.
It was the opposite of what the Lynx expected in Game 1 on Sunday. The Lynx were out-worked, they were out-played. The coach wants Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus more involved.
"We have to all do better, all of us. This is not like I challenged Lindsay and Seimone, I didn't challenge them. Somebody asked me a question do they need to do more? And the answer is yeah they need to do more," coach Cheryl Reeve said.
The message is simple this time of year. You know the other team, so it comes down to want to and will do.
"In the finals to be really good you have to play defense and rebound. Scoring is going to happen, but I think you have to win it with defensive rebounding and turnovers area," guard Renee Montgomery said.
Look for a healthy dose of Maya Moore Tuesday. She believes in her team because she's seen these scenarios play out before.
"I think that's how we've grown the most, just knowing the mindset and staying connected when we are struggling," Maya Moore said. "Which is the cool part about this team is when things are hard, we don't go our separate ways."
The Lynx don't talk about it, but it's certainly at the front of mind. When you're the home team, if you go down 2-0 after Tuesday night, you're in a whole lot of trouble.
That's hardly a revelation, but it is a reality.
"You know we know what we need to do, and I think we're still very confident," Rebekkah Brunson said. "Everybody that's a part of this team knows that we can go out there and get Game 2."
