Lows Plunge To Nearly 30 Below In Northern Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The deep freeze is on in Minnesota.

The National Weather Service reports lows plunged to nearly 30 below zero across northern Minnesota. Togo dropped to 29 below while International Falls, Orr and Grand Portage all bottomed out at 28 below.

Wind chill readings also were brutal, with International Falls reporting a wind chill of 47 below early Monday.

In Warroad, where the low was 24 below, fishing guide Kent Peterson says the key to avoiding frostbite is to not have a lot of skin showing.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for northern and west-central Minnesota for Monday night into Tuesday.

Highs statewide Wednesday will range from 10 below to zero.
