3 Injured, 1 Arrested In Little Canada Shooting

LITTLE CANADA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Neighbors are hoping for better security after three people were shot near a popular bar in Little Canada.

It happened just before 2 Saturday morning at the intersection of Rice and Demont Avenue, which is right next to a bar named Hoggsbreath.

The three people shot are expected to be OK. Ramsey County Deputies also arrested the suspected shooter.

"But it definitely is a brewing pot that's been waiting to spill over into this kind of mess," Chris Scanlan said.

That pot Scanlan speaks of represents the crowd he sees from across the street from his home on weekend nights.

"I'm out here for a reason, because I know something is gonna happen," he said.

But never to the extent that it did early Saturday morning.

"It just looked like a locked down military zone around here," Scanlan said.

It was almost 2 a.m. Hoggsbreath -- a bar nearby -- was closing for the night.

As people were leaving, Scanlan says he saw an argument brewing, then someone run towards a parked car.

"And then his buddy was actually saying, 'C'mon dog, it ain't worth it, don't do it, don't do it, it ain't worth it.' I literally, that will stick in my head forever. And then within 10 seconds, [gunfire]," he said.

Three people were shot.

Luckily, police were already near the scene, responding to an unrelated call at a neighboring restaurant.

"Everyone was pointing at him like, 'That's the guy, that's the guy.' And right away he was down at gunpoint along with I think two other people," Scanlan said.

Police arrested a suspect.

The owners at Hoggsbreath say they're working with the city, the county, as well as their own security team to prevent future incidents.

Scanlan -- who is a parent -- hopes there will be a change.

"We cannot be having that kind of behavior going on. Even on a Saturday night when it's adult time, it's still gotta be controlled or we're gonna have our fun taken away from us," he said.

Hoggsbreath's owners also wished a speedy recovery to their customers who might have been shot or hurt in the incident.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office hasn't released the suspects name or a possible motive.
