LaVine To Defend Dunk Title Against Drummond, Barton & Gordon
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Reigning Slam Dunk Contest champion Zach LaVine is slated to defend his title next weekend in Toronto.
League sources told Cleveland.com that the 20-year-old Timberwolves player will compete against Detroit's Andre Drummond, Denver's Will Barton and Orlando's Aaron Gordon.
LaVine dominated last year's competition with acrobatic, intricate dunks that wooed judges in New York. This year, he heads into the contest as a clear favorite.
The Timberwolves guard is the second-youngest player in history to win the dunk contest. The youngest ever was Kobe Bryant, who was 18 when earned the top honors in 1997.
The dunk contest is part of the NBA's All-Star weekend.
