Kylie's Kids: Meet Ava

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Babies that are born early start off their life with a pretty big fight. Any time earlier than 9 months isn't ideal, but Ava was born four months early.

This week's Kylie's Kid is now 9 years old and won't let anything slow her down.

Ava showed off her tiny baby prints to Kylie Bearse.

"They are my baby prints from when I was born," Ava said.

Ava was supposed to have a February birthday, but instead was born four months early -- weighing less than a pound.

"Oh my gosh, look at this one, it's like half a foot," Ava said.

Ava's now wears braces for her Cerebral Palsy, which makes walking a little easier.

"If I didn't have them, my shoes would flop off," Ava said.

Even with the braces, Ava is tackling rock climbing and adaptive skiing.

"I conquered the training hill and the chairlift hill to the left and right," Ava said.

She also teamed up with her sister Amelie to sell Girl Scout cookies.

They set an original goal of 600 boxes, but passed that pretty quickly.

"Together we sold a thousand boxes," Amelie said.

At only 6-years-old, Amelie can describe Cerebral Palsy to anyone who doesn't understand.

"I tell them it's this thing where you can't get your brain to always do what you want your body to do," Amelie said.

Ava's had eight surgeries, which means a lot of time in the hospital. Amelie is always right there with her.

Together, they can turn any space into a playroom.
