Klobuchar Introduces Bill To Strengthen Airport Security
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar introduced an amendment to the FAA Reauthorization bill that would allow for more federal agents and bomb-sniffing dogs in non-secure airport zones, like check-in and baggage claim areas.
The amendment, which has passed in the U.S. Senate, also calls for new funding for active shooter training for police.
"Following the senseless and tragic terror attacks at the Brussels Airport, security officials must be given the common sense tools they need to keep passengers safe when they travel," Klobuchar said. "At the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, we've seen firsthand that these tools can enhance both safety and efficiency."
The amendment also aims to expand and enhance visible deterrents, and to focus on mass transit stations.
