Kevin Garnett's 1,000 Wolves Tickets Claimed In Minutes
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Well, that didn't take long.
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that the 1,000 tickets purchased by Kevin Garnett for Monday night's game have all been claimed – in less than three minutes.
The tickets to the Wolves' home game against the LA Clippers were bought and donated by Garnett, who called it a way to show his appreciation for the warm welcome he's received since returning to Minnesota.
"I think some of thought it would take a little longer," Wolves spokesman Brad Ruiter said. "Just the fact that all those people logged on right away at 9 A.M. and got in the system in under three minutes was quite something."
The Wolves traded for Garnett two weeks ago. He's played two home games at Target Center and both were in front of sell-out crowds. But the grand return of the best player in franchise history is just part of what's been a turnaround for what was a mediocre season.
"Ricky Rubio returned earlier in February, we had Andrew Wiggins win the Future Stars MVP in New York, Zach Lavine wins the dunk contest," Ruiter said. "And a week later we trade for KG. It's really kind of been a snowball effect."
Garnett is expected to help out tonight by not getting kicked out of the game, which happened on Saturday night.
"We sure hope so," Ruiter said with a laugh.
For those who managed to snag free tickets, they can only pick them up between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Target Center Box Office – or they'll lose them.
The crowd Monday night is expected to approach capacity.
