Jordana's Blog: Never As Good
My mother is a good cook. Me, not so much.
I don't like cooking, it's not my thing. I do it to keep my children alive.
When people say they like to cook, I secretly think they just say that because of the praise they get when someone compliments them on their cooking. I can see why. I love when the kids or handsome husband tells me something I made is good.
This weekend began Passover. We went to New Jersey and mom cooked up a storm for the Seders. Everyone raved. Everything was delicious but nothing more than my mother's little meatballs.
These are legendary in my family and there is not a single person who's ever tasted these that hasn't fallen in love with them. So, of course my children asked if I can make them at home.
Oy.
I've tried. They never come out as good.
(I think my mom gives me the wrong recipe so hers will always be better than mine.) My mom denies any ingredient omissions and she tried to talk me through it again Monday morning. So, the meatballs are underway. I'll let you know what the kids think.

Do you have a recipe that will never taste like grandma or mom used to make it? Have you ever altered one so as not to give away your secret ingredient? C'mon fess up!
