Jennifer Carnahan Elected Chair Of Minnesota Republican Party

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Republican Party of Minnesota has a new chair.

Jennifer Carnahan was elected to the position Saturday at the State Central Committee meeting. Carnahan will succeed outgoing Chairman Keith Downey.

Downey congratulated Carnahan on her win. He released this statement.

"She will be a strong and tested leader. And I am confident she will continue our efforts to show that Republican leadership is good for all Minnesotans."

Carnahan, a Maple Grove native, has experience in business and marketing. She ran for the Minnesota Senate in 2016 for District 59, losing to Democrat Bobby Joe Champion.

David Pascoe will take over as deputy chair, while Barb Sutter will keep her position as party secretary.
