Search Of Pagnac Home Ends, DNA Investigation Continues

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP/WCCO) — Investigators completed their week-long search of a Maple Grove home Saturday morning in the case of a girl who went missing in 1989.

Authorities have been at the home of Amy Pagnac's parents since last Sunday. Maple Grove Police Chief Keith Terlinden says they completed their search at 11:30 a.m. He declined to say what prompted the search, what they were seeking or what they found.

Terlinden did make it clear that there are no suspects at this time. He says the investigation will continue to be a priority, and DNA evidence will become the focus.

"The actual specifics of what we did there and what we recovered I'm not going to discuss," Terlinden said.

The search involved investigators from Maple Grove Police, Hennepin Coutny Sheriff's office and the FBI.

On Friday, WCCO Sky 4 Cameras could see officers using an excavator and shovels to dig in the family's backyard.

Captain Terlinden says the search warrant was a small piece of their investigation.

"We're all determined to bring Amy home," he said.

Pagnac was 13 when she disappeared from an Osseo gas station in August 1989. Her stepfather had stopped to use the restroom, and he told police she was gone when he returned.

Pagnac's mother has said the girl had a medical condition that caused her to become disoriented, and she may have wandered off and been picked up by someone.

Earlier this week, police released the original report taken the day Amy went missing.

Her parents said she had run away before and believed she would be home the next day.

The report also noted her parents planned to be out of town for several days for a medical procedure and thought Amy would be home when they returned.

Maple Grove Police are asking if you know any information about Amy Pagnac's disappearance to please give them a call at 763-494-6100, or call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
